I like my hair shortish but a reverse A (reverse bob) is really cute if your hair is straight...it was one of my favorite hairstyles.
My lady cut my hair way too short last time...I am still letting it grow ;/

High fructose corn syrup and sugar are handled the same way by the body, so buying into the “no high fructose corn syrup” fad isn’t exactly going to be useful. It ultimately distracts from leading a healthy, balanced life.

Re: Checking Out A Car

Looks like you had fun! For the past few months, I have started to take Melatonin. It is herb you can get anywhere. It helps regulate the seratonin in your brain to help you sleep. I like it because it is not harmful. It is just a herb. It doesn't make a big difference, but if you are under stress, it can help you sleep.. You went to the doctor, and they still were not able to help? wow. The only thing I can say is make sure you are enjoying life. Do something crazy that you have never done. Go skydiving.. The only thing s that i think how people get like a 30$ pizza for 10 bucks and pretty much take 20 (I've seen even more taken off from the deal) and people will still complain, it's frustrating sometimes when the customers think it's us (the employees) that come up with the bogus small print saying all that's extra and they get just way out of control... but maybe you should talk to their manager and see why the hell they tried selling it to you for that price maybe its just the area...but that sounds weird. Just don't hate us all some stores just aren't what they could be because the people just don't care.

Re: Just Peachy

I know what your going thru, the last two weeks i caught two effin colds! I like to take pictures. I was telling my friend my dad and I do our own version of photowalks...and recently went to pebble beach where I took 1200+ pictures in about three or four hours of wandering about. I am learning...but I want to continue to learn...it's something I love to do...my dad is way better equipment wise and skill wise than I am, but he thinks I am better composition wise than he is...my issue is I can see the picture I want to take in my head but don't nec know how to get the effect I am looking for with the equipment I have...but I am learning ;-)

I commend you on your desire to eat healthier and make adaptations to your diet. I also commend you on not wanting to use diet pills, they don't work anyway!

I have lost 15 lbs since the beginning of January simply by watching portion sizes and eating only when I'm hungry. I also don't eat after dinner and have cut out pop (except for twice this year, no pop, not even diet!) I haven't joined a gym or anything, but I do make an effort to move whenever possible (yes, simple things like not choosing the parking spot closest to the store!)

Anyway, I know it isn't easy. Start small, make a change or two every week or two. You'll be surprised!

(And also I read your post on seeking other spiritual paths. I'm a Christian and would be happy to talk with you about your journey!

Re: Learning a Lot

Gastric bypass is definitely a life-changing procedure, but it's one that can change your life for the better. In my case, I have lost 54.4 lbs. since my surgery date, which was November 18th, 2009. I would have lost more, except for the stricture that I have -- it's a common condition where the exit "hole" from the new stomach heals too small. The fix is quick and painless (endoscopic), but I had to put it off because of coming down with pneumonia. Because of the stricture, I vomit a lot of what I eat, because the food can't always leave my stomach. So my body is essentially in starvation mode, and holds onto every calorie with a vengeance. If it weren't for this damn stricture, I would be closer to losing 60 - 75 lbs. by now!

Anyway. Everyone has their individual tolerances, but from speaking to a lot of people it seems like most foods are okay, as long as they're in small enough portions and chewed well enough. Bread and pasta are big trouble foods, but that's because they tend to wad up in the stomach, and have trouble passing through to the small intestine. I can eat both, but only in very, very small amounts -- literally a bite or two!

Edited to add: drinking & eating. You're not supposed to eat and drink at the same time, because drinking can push food into the small intestine too fast, which can result in dumping syndrome (your body freaking at the sudden overload of sugar or carbs or fat). It can also make you feel hungry again, which can result in overeating.
For me, I really can't drink when I eat. Everything mixes together, and nine times out of ten I'll wind up vomiting. I have to wait about a half hour in between. / end edit

If you can get health insurance and a doctor who actually has a clue about health and a healthy weight, I would definitely recommend looking into the surgery. It's drastic, but it *works*.

Re: We CAN Hear You

I heard somewhere that fat people are the last socially acceptable group of people to be made fun of, and I believe it. It's weird... even though I'm losing weight, I still feel *very* fat. I'm sure at 160 lbs. I'll still have the mindset of a 300 lb. person. You just don't shake that kind of thing...

I hate the grocery cart judgment, argh. Generally mine is stocked with fresh meats, produce, frozen vegetables and healthy sides... but that's the first stuff that goes in my cart. As we head towards the register my husband and kids add in not-so-healthy things, so of course it looks like I'm pushing a cart full of crap that I intend to take home and chow down on all by myself.
Also not fun: picking up food from a restaurant or gas station for my husband. He'll ask me to get him a huge KFC bucket, an 8 pc. chicken plank meal from LJS, or a 10" sub from WaWa... and of course people look at ME and judge ME. Gah.

Re: Pizza Hut Strikes Again

I would love to know how they get along like that myself. Sean and I have ordered from the local (seems they actually have a call in service instead of you calling the local place) and never had an issue.

I wish there was a Papa Johns in Centralia, but the closest is in Mount Vernon. I like them better than Pizza Hut, and you even get garlic sauce on the side. The guy who started Papa Johns has tried to stick to his humble roots and I see it in the service.

Re: Oh What A Tangled Web

One is a massive photo printer... seriously, it's a 48 lb., $600 (I got it for $300something on eBay) beast.
